Linux 8.7 BMR Intel and PPC Suite Release

Today we are pleased to be releasing  a new version of Linux 8.7 BMR Intel and PPC Suite (Intel and PPC – big/little-endian) to production. The suite consists of ABMR (Intel only, not PPC), CBMR, NBMR and TBMR.

These are the main changes compared with the previous BMR releases:

Common to all BMR products

  • The rpm, deb and tar.gz installation components are no longer contained within the product recovery ISO file. These are now separate downloads.
  • Now supports Centos 8.0, RHEL 8.0 and Oracle 8.0.
  • The DR wizard has been modified to use more of the available screen.
  • A drop-down calendar is now provided in the DR wizard to select a point-in-time date.
  • Added the ability to reduce (as well as increase) the verbosity of logging during recovery.
  • Now supports NVME type disk targets (Intel only).
  • ubax printed rubbish to the screen if ‘device.ini’ file did not exist when doing a device scan. This is now fixed.
  • Recovery created the swap file on /dev/dm devices when using multi-path. This is now fixed.
  • When using multi-path during recovery the swap device was overwriting a partition. This is now fixed.
  • There was a problem with disk rescaling for large disks during recovery. This is now fixed.
  • The CDS program was continually printing ‘2’ to the screen while running. This is now fixed.

ABMR

  • Now supports Dell EMC Avamar clients in the range version 7.2 to 19.1.1 inclusive.

CBMR

  • Now supports IBM Spectrum Protect clients in the range version 7.1.1 to 8.1.8.0 inclusive. Version 8.1.8.0 of the client is now included in the DR environment. Server versions supported are 7.1.1 to 8.1.8.0.
  • The swapfile on Ubuntu 18 was being incorrectly backed up when running a VTD backup. This is now fixed.

NBMR

  • Now supports Dell EMC NetWorker client/server version up to 19.1.1.0/19.1.1 respectively.

TBMR

  • Now supports IBM Spectrum Protect clients in the range version 7.1.1 to 8.1.8.0 inclusive. Version 8.1.8.0 of the client is now included in the DR environment. Server versions supported are 7.1.1 to 8.1.8.0.
  • The requirement to add the line “virtualmountpoint /dev” to the IBM Spectrum Protect dsm.sys file has been dropped.

Note 1: The BMR Intel products are compatible with the Cristie VA release 2.9.
Note 2: Bug fixes are also included with these releases. Please consult the relevant Release Notes for further details.

Each BMR 8.7 product is now available for immediate download from the Cristie FTP site.
