System Recovery Agent for IBM Storage Protect®

Extend IBM Storage Protect
with Enterprise Recovery Orchestration

Transform Trusted IBM Storage Protect Backups into Complete System Recovery

Recover complete Windows, Linux and AIX systems using your existing IBM Storage Protect backups, with Cristie system recovery technology designed to reconstruct operating systems, applications, configuration and data.

IBM Storage Protect with Cristie System Recovery Agent (TBMR) combines enterprise data protection with complete system recovery.

Deploy TBMR as a standalone system recovery agent, or combine it with Cristie Recovery Hub to centralise, automate and orchestrate recovery across larger and more complex environments.

Complete System Recovery
from IBM Storage Protect Backups

Your IBM backups protect critical data—but complete recovery requires the system supporting that data to be reconstructed.

Cristie System Recovery for IBM Storage Protect captures the system configuration required for disaster recovery and combines it with your existing IBM backups to rebuild protected systems following hardware failure, cyber incidents and other disruptive events.

TBMR can capture current system configuration before scheduled IBM Storage Protect backups, helping ensure the recovery information remains aligned with changes to the protected system.

IBM Storage Protect protects your data. Cristie provides the technology to reconstruct the complete system.

Cristie System Recovery Agent for IBM Storage Protect – Frequently Asked Questions

TBMR captures recovery-critical information about the protected machine, including its storage, operating system and network configuration. During disaster recovery, this configuration is combined with data held in IBM Storage Protect to reconstruct the target system and restore the protected workload.

TBMR can automatically capture the current system configuration immediately before a scheduled IBM Storage Protect backup. This helps keep recovery information aligned with changes to disks, storage, networking and other aspects of the protected system rather than relying on a configuration captured at an earlier date.

That includes restoring the system configuration, operating system, applications and data onto the recovery target, helping move from a protected backup to a working system more efficiently.

TBMR for Windows supports recovery using IBM Storage Protect incremental backups and also provides documented workflows for image backups and supported online backupsets. Image-backup and backupset recovery have specific configuration requirements, including the availability of the TBMR system configuration.

TBMR provides options for adapting the recovered storage configuration to the destination system. On Windows, administrators can review and modify disk and partition mappings, and TBMR can automatically scale the layout when the destination contains fewer or smaller disks. Linux recovery provides options for customising disks, volume groups and filesystem layouts.

Yes. The current Windows TBMR documentation supports recovery between BIOS/MBR and UEFI/GPT environments, including conversion in either direction during recovery. Linux has different capabilities: it supports UEFI and legacy MBR environments and UEFI-to-MBR recovery, but MBR-to-UEFI recovery is not currently supported for Linux.

Network settings can be adapted as part of the recovery process so that the reconstructed system does not have to retain the original network configuration. Linux recovery supports settings including IP address, subnet mask, DHCP, hostname, gateway and DNS, while Windows provides hostname and interface configuration using DHCP or static addressing.

TBMR includes recovery options designed for more complex Linux infrastructure. The current guide documents Multipath and PowerPath storage recovery, VLAN configuration, bonded network interfaces, custom disk and volume-group layouts, and automatic driver injection for newly detected hardware.

TBMR annual subscription: $400 USD per protected system, per year. Please contact us for our competitive multiple server, industry and reseller discounts.

What Is Cleanroom Recovery? Why It’s Essential After Ransomware

Cleanroom recovery is becoming essential in the fight against ransomware. By restoring systems in an isolated environment, organizations can validate integrity, eliminate hidden threats, and prevent reinfection. This approach ensures secure, reliable recovery of infrastructure, helping businesses minimise downtime and strengthen cyber resilience after sophisticated cyberattacks.

The Enterprise Guide to Cyber Recovery and Infrastructure Resilience

Modern ransomware targets entire infrastructures, not just data. Traditional backups often fail because they don’t restore operating systems or configurations. This guide explores building a cyber-resilient strategy using automated system recovery and cleanroom environments to bridge the gap between backup and full operational restoration, ensuring rapid recovery after a sophisticated attack.
