TBMR installation

Spectrum Protect (TSM)/Archive Client has been installed, you can run the TBMR Install Wizard, which enables you to install TBMR in the location of your choice. From the Wizard you can also read the installation guide or the Readme file which provides information about the latest software improvements we have made.

Launch TBMR

Once TBMR has automatically captured the initial configuration of your machine and finished installing, you can launch TBMR. You will see a range of configuration tools available to you, including, a driver validation tool to check your machine drivers, and an automated Disaster Recover Answer File creator which helps enable a seamless automatic recover with minimal user intervention, when needed.

After the configuration has been set, you can use TSM to protect your machine in the usual way, safe in the knowledge that TBMR is ready to help you recover your system efficiently and effectively when you need it.

Recover environment

In case of needing to initiate a recover, if you created a Disaster Recover Answer File, you can recover your system automatically, and unattended. Alternatively, the process is still easy with a simple to use console. You are first prompted to start the automatic recover wizard, or you can choose the manual recover wizard if you prefer to tailor the recover you wish to perform.

If you choose to use the Manual Recover Wizard you will be guided through a series of sequential steps to help you tailor your desired recover.

You can choose the type of restore you wish to perform, which can be based on your latest protect or restoring to a protected point in time, for maximum flexibility under your control. You can restore from a TSM node or a protectset stored on a TSM node.

Depending on the type of recover you have chosen, you can specify the details of the server, node and time to restore from.

You can tailor destination layout to closer meet your needs, so not being tied to the same layout as once existed on the source machine, with clear on-screen indicators to help you.

Throughout the recover process, whichever path you have chosen, TBMR keeps you informed of progress.

Once the disk is formatted you will be able to restore your files.

If you have chosen to initiate a manual recover, you can conduct an automatic ‘sanity check’ in your recovered environment, making it bootable to enable you to check if essential registry and other files are present.

Finally, if you chose manual recover path, TBMR can help you inject the drivers you need where a different hardware configuration has been chosen for the target of your restore, compared to the original source; where different drivers are needed, for example, it will try to find them and install them. Whichever recover path you have chosen, you can reboot the recovered protect target and a copy of the log file will be available to you.
