ABMR Installation

Once your Avamar Client has been installed you can run the ABMR Install Wizard, which enables you to install ABMR in the location of your choice. From the Wizard you can also read the installation guide or the Readme file which provides information about the latest software improvements we have made.

Launch ABMR

Once ABMR has automatically captured the initial configuration of your machine and finished installing, you can launch ABMR. You will see a range of configuration tools available to you, including, a driver validation tool to check your machine drivers, and an automated Disaster Recover Answer File creator which helps enable a seamless automatic recover with minimal user intervention, when needed.

Create Configuration

After the configuration has been set, you can use Avamar to protect your machine in the usual way, safe in the knowledge that ABMR is ready to help you recover your system efficiently and effectively when you need it.

Recover environment

In case of needing to initiate a recover, if you created a Disaster Recover Answer File, you can recover your system automatically, and unattended. Alternatively, the process is still easy with a simple to use console. You are first prompted to start the automatic recover wizard, or you can choose the manual recover wizard if you prefer to tailor the recover you wish to perform.

Access configuration

If you choose to use the Manual Recover Wizard you will be guided through a series of sequential steps to help you tailor your desired recover.

EMC Avamar

Depending on the type of recover you have chosen, you can specify the details of the server, node and time to restore from.

Create partitions and volumes

Throughout the recover process, whichever path you have chosen, ABMR keeps you informed of progress.

Restore status

Once the disk is formatted you will be able to restore your files.

Make bootable

If you have chosen to initiate a manual recover, you can conduct an automatic ‘sanity check’ in your recovered environment, making it bootable to enable you to check if essential registry and other files are present.

Dissimilar hardware

Finally, if you chose manual recover path, ABMR can help you inject the drivers you need where a different hardware configuration has been chosen for the target of your restore, compared to the original source; where different drivers are needed, for example, it will try to find them and install them.
