How CloneManager’s New Automated Failover and Failback Protects Your Critical Systems

Read here how automated failover and failback helps keep critical systems up and running as well as giving reassurance that your systems are protected.

Cristie CloneManager’s new Automated Failover and Failback feature forms part of your robust Disaster Recovery plan in three ways.

Firstly, it helps to minimise the impact of a server failure on your business; secondly, it reduces your management overhead and downtime, and thirdly, it gives you full flexibility with your choice of source and target environments.

Read here how automated failover and failback helps keep critical systems up and running as well as giving reassurance that your systems are protected.

Automatic Failover minimises loss in revenue caused by server failure

Enabling automatic failover means that you can minimise any potential loss in revenue or productivity caused by server failure. This is because CloneManager keeps your business-critical systems running with minimal downtime.

If a failure occurs with your production system, CloneManager will automatically failover to the hot-standby copy and carry on from your last sync between the two systems, reducing your RPOs and RTOs to minutes as opposed to hours.

Then, once the issues on the source system have been resolved and the system is brought back online, CloneManager will start syncing the changes back to the original system.

You can select either to failback to the source or keep running on the target and use the original system as the failover destination should the hot-standby copy now fail.

The result? A manual and time-consuming process is automated, freeing up time for other business-critical functions.

Automated process reduces the possibility of human error

If you’re working in a business with zero tolerance for system outage, automated features give you the peace of mind that your systems are protected, no matter what.

Automating failover and failback reduces the chances of human error in a potentially high-stress situation. It also saves time on the overall management of the process.

If your source system goes offline, there’s no need to wait for an engineer to log-in and then manually initiate and coordinate the failover to the target system.

Instead, after a user-defined period of the server being offline, CloneManager can automatically failover on to the hot-standby copy. The result? Peace of mind that your systems are protected.

Flexibility between source and target systems

If you’re looking for resilience for your key and critical systems and you need the solution to work across environments, CloneManager can help.

Cristie software offers a huge amount of flexibility between source and target environments.

With many other replication solutions, features like automated failover are aimed specifically at virtual or cloud environments. However, CloneManager fully supports physical systems as well as virtual and cloud machines.

So no matter whether they are physical, virtual or in the cloud, we can migrate, replicate and failover between any combination and in any direction.
