Cristie CloneManager Preview
CloneManager is a new software product that is currently in beta testing and is due to be released early 2013. The software allows machines to be migrated or cloned to other machines – typically in a cloud or managed services environment.
CloneManager enables the migration of servers in either a real time (live) environment or staged to an intermediate storage device. Migrations can be to physical, virtual or cloud machines and to dissimilar physical hardware or to other virtual machines.
CloneManager is non-disruptive, fast, reliable software for migrating servers and creating live or staged clones.
Key features include:
- a discovery service which will be used to monitor the utilisation of memory, processing, storage and network resources by source machines prior to migration so that the target machines can be correctly provisioned
- the ability to periodically synchronise the target machine with the source machine – creating a stand-by machine at another location
- the ability to specify or change a range of configuration options on the target machine - either in advance or during the migration process
- fully integrated with vCloud Director and other cloud management software.
The CloneManager Console has a simple and easy to use interface with drag and drop functionality which provides a streamlined and user-friendly way to clone or migrate businesses servers whether cloud, physical or virtual. It is targeted at cloud and managed services providers who wish to on-board their customers’ machines from their existing data centres, MSPs or other cloud providers.
